Experts link Celebrex dosages and heart risks

An analysis of studies involving the arthritis drug Celebrex showed higher doses of the drug are associated with an increasing risk of heart attacks and strokes. Researchers at the National Cancer Institute found that patients who took the highest dose of Celebrex--400 mg twice daily--had a nearly three-times higher risk of heart attacks and strokes than patients not taking the drug. Patients taking a lower dose of Celebrex (400 mg once daily) had a 10 percent higher risk of a cardiovascular event. Most patients take 200 mg once daily, and this dosage was not analyzed in the study.
